Franklin United has won the Men’s Northern Conference with one game remaining and will playoff for the chance at promotion to the Men’s Championship.

The local side has an unassailable lead with one round to go despite not playing this weekend.

Fellow South Auckland side Beachlands Maraetai did Franklin a massive favour as they shared a point with Franklin’s closest rivals Bucklands Beach and ensured the latter could not get ahead with one round to go.

Ironically, Franklin United and Bucklands Beach meet next weekend in the final game of the season but even a Bucklands Beach win would not be enough to stop Franklin from finishing on top.

Franklin United will play against the winner’s of the Southern Conference for the right to go up to the Men’s Championship next season,.
