Franklin United have confirmed the signing of two players for the 2022 season including their best player from last season.

Men’s 1st Team Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and the top goal scorer from the 2021 season Tim Richardson will return in 2022.

Richardson played for the New Zealand Secondary Schools side and represented New Zealand at the FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Canada before a four-year college career in the United States at Fordham University.

He spent some time with Youngheart Manawatu prior to joining Franklin United.

The club announced his signing on their Facebook page on Wednesday.

“Tim has become an integral member on and off the park at the club,” the post said. “We are excited to see him in our club colours again in 2022.

“Welcome to another season as part of the Franklin Family.”

Also joining the club is local junior Dillon Lazarus, who has been playing for UniMount in recent times.

Before that Lazarus was part of the 2014 promotion winning Eastern Suburbs side, which was under the guidance of current Franklin United coaching staff.

Franklin United will play in LOTTO Division 2 of Northern Region Football next year.
