Five Counties Manukau women’s players have been given Northern Districts contracts for the upcoming summer.

Carol Agafili, Sam Barriball, Marama Downes, Yaz Kareem and Caitlin Gurrey have all been handed professional contracts to represent the Brave.

Agafili, Barriball, Downes and Gurrey have all had contracts previously, but this is the first time that all-rounder Kareem has earned a contract.

Gurrey enjoyed a phenomenal season with Northern Districts last season as she scored a record knock of 183 in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield while also bringing up 2,000 runs in the competition on the way to being named one-day player of the year.

Counties Manukau fielded a senior women’s side last season for the first time in over a decade.
