Counties Manukau has been handed a favourable draw for the Mitre 10 Cup in 2020 with family friendly times a theme when the schedule was released Wednesday.

The PIC Steelers will open their campaign against the defending champion Tasman Mako at 7pm on Saturday September 12 at Navigation Homes Stadium.

They face Championship rivals Northland at home on Sunday September 27 from 4pm and back that up the following Saturday with a clash against Manawatu from 2pm also in Pukekohe.

After two-week break on the road, the PIC Steelers return to Pukekohe on Sunday October 25 where the face Wellington at 2pm.

Tai Lavea’s side plays its final home game on Friday November 13 at 7pm against Southland.

“We’re rapt with the new-look draw released by New Zealand Rugby today,” CMRFU chief executive Aaron Lawton said.

“We’ve lobbied hard to have home games here in Pukekohe in the family-friendly, weekend slots and those have been delivered.

“That week one game against Tasman is going to be a huge occasion and we’ll be calling on PIC Steelers fans to help pack out Navigation Homes Stadium and get behind the boys.”

The PIC Steelers will face Hawke’s Bay, Waikato, Otago, Taranaki and North Harbour on the road through the course of the season.
