The Franklin Bulls have booked a semi-final showdown with the Auckland Tuatara on Friday night after taking down the Wellington Saints 124-104 in the play-in final on Thursday.

The Bulls won in their maiden playoff game as they had to work hard to overcome the 12-time champions at Trusts Stadium.

Tied up at the end of both the first quarter and again at halftime, the Bulls were guilty of allowing the Saints to play the game at pace.

But they were able to get their league-best defense to come to the fore in the second half and they turned the screws to limit the Saints while at the same time continued to score at will at the other end.

Jared Wilson-Frame finished with 33 points on 10-16 shooting from the floor while Rickey McGill piled on 24 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals while Dan Fotu had 21 points, six boards and five dimes.

Big man Tyrell Harrison had 16 points and seven rebounds off the bench.

The win sets up an all-Auckland clash against the number one seeded Tuatara – the two sides split the regular season match-ups one apiece.

The game tips off at 7pm on Friday night with a spot in Sunday’s grand final up for grabs.
