The Franklin Bulls have announced the signing of Tall Blacks and Brisbane Bullets big man Tyrell Harrison for the upcoming Sal’s NBL season.

Harrison, who is currently playing for the Tall Blacks in the FIBA international window, last played for the Nelson Giants in the local league but has been with the Bullets in the Australian Basketball League since.

It is through that connection that Harrison has developed a strong relationship with Bulls GM Mika Vukona, who was only too keen to sign him once the latter joined the Bulls.

“Tyrell is a one of those rare young players that has a wealth of experience at a high level but still at a young age,” Vukona said.

“He has shown in the ANBL over the last four years what he is capable of and to have him come home to continue his development under Coach Daniel [Sokolovsky] is exciting.”

Sokolovsky is licking his lips at the prospect of having an elite centre controlling the paint.

“Kiwi. Tall Black. ANBL main stay. League leader in effective field goal percentage, and among the league leaders in net rating,” said Sokolovsky of his latest addition. “Tyrell Harrison is on verge of breaking through, and establishing himself among the premier big men in this region of the world.

“It’s incredibly exciting to have him joining us in Franklin as he prepares for this crucial phase of his career.”

Harrison joins Breakers and Tall Blacks star Isaac Davidson on the Bulls 2023 roster with more players set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

The Bulls open the Sal’s NBL with a home game against the Hawke’s Bay Hawks.
