A brilliant century from teenage wicketkeeper-batsman Aryandeep Mann has lifted Papakura to a five wicket win over Weymouth in Duthie Cup action Saturday.

Tipped to be a future representative star, Mann has shown glimpses of his undoubted talent through the season so far but he put it altogether in a brilliant 129 not out off 119 balls to help his side reach Weymouth’s 220 all out.

Mann hit 16 fours and two sixes and carried his bat to ensure Papakura got home with five wickets and 14 overs remaining.

He had some help in the form of Malav Brahmbhatt (48 off 42), who has been arguably Papakura’s most consistent player this season.

Earlier Weymouth made 220 with Oscar Taylor top scoring on 55.

Opening bowler Benjamin Reay took 4-45 for Papakura.

Despite having a stack of representative players out, Pukekohe Metro continued their winning run in the Duthie Cup with a five-wicket win over Karaka at Bledisloe Park.

Karaka made 212 batting first, with Matthew Hill scoring an unbeaten 72 off 83 balls coming in at number seven.

Blair Lovett and Pramod Jatain each had three wickets for the home side.

Pukekohe Metro eased to the target in the 31st over for the loss of just five wickets – Matthew Wilson (68), Jonathan Keen (48), and Aue Parima (40) doing the bulk of the scoring.

Manukau City bowled Southern Counties out for 233 and then reached the total with 10 overs and three wickets in hand.

Manpreet Singh’s 66 and Shaun Lovett’s 43 helped Southern Counties post a respectable total while Louis Anderson took 4-27 opening the bowling for Manukau City.

Rikesh Patel continued his golden summer, scoring 99 off just 71 balls before being trapped leg before by the impressive Andrew Goodare, one short of a century.

Goodare did his part, taking 5-39 to keep his side in the contest but it wasn’t enough as Manukau City overcame the loss of five first choice players (on Counties Manukau duty).

Pukekohe Metro stay top of the table with five wins from five and will host the final while Karaka edges Manukau City for the other final spot based on their identical record and the former’s head-to-head win. The final will be played at Bledisloe Park on February 12.

Papakura jumped ahead of both Southern Counties and Weymouth with their second win of the season, while the two newcomers had a win apiece.
