Botes throws his way to World U20 qualification

Papakura Athletic and Harrier Club javelin thrower Douw Botes has thrown the qualifying standard for the World U20 Athletics Championships.

Botes threw a massive 68.26m in Christchurch on Saturday to qualify for the World U20 Championships in Peru later this year.

The 19-year-old national champion, who is coached by John Eden, topped his personal best of 67.72m throw at the Porritt Classic a fortnight ago.

He will now begin fundraising to head to Peru.
