Counties Manukau Cricket’s most successful coach has announced his decision to step down as senior men’s coach.

Adil Somani took over as head coach in 2016-17 and has led the association through its most successful period in history.

Over the four seasons Somani was in charge he won the full set of prizes – the Hawke Cup, Fergus Hickey Rosebowl, the Brian Dunning Cup and the Basil McBurney Trophy.

Somani’s Counties Manukau side famously beat Bay of Plenty in January 2018 to bring the Hawke Cup to Counties for the first time ever. Two months later his side lifted the Fergus Hickey Rosebowl for the first time since the mid-1970s.

He departs with the blessing of the organisation.

Somani’s replacement is expected to be announced shortly.
