Plans are afoot to bring a senior women’s rugby team back to Waiuku in 2023 with the club confirming plans via their Facebook page.
A post made earlier this week said: “Women’s Rugby is coming home to Waiuku. We’re keen to tell you more, so if you’re interested, get in touch with us directly.”
The club previously ran a women’s team, but it has been a number of years since they entered a team in any grade.
Counties Energy Heat stars Emily Kitson and Rebecca Burch are from Waiuku and would be two obvious targets.
The club was unable to enter a men’s premier side in the McNamara Cup this year for the first time in their history.
