The Otara Scorpions can book themselves a spot in the Fox Memorial Premiership this season if they can beat the Te Atatu Roosters at Jack Colvin Park on Saturday.

A win would do fellow South Auckland outfit the Howick Hornets a favour and ensure they too play in the top grade this season.

A Scorpions loss opens up all sorts of possibilities with the three clubs potentially finishing tied on two competition points with the bottom side dropping down to play in the Sharman Cup.

The Hornets can secure their berth if they were able to beat the Otahuhu Leopards at Paparoa Park. The Leopards have already secured their spot with two wins from two in Pool D.

The Pakuranga Jaguars are all but assured of missing the cut and contesting the Sharman Cup this season but have one last chance against the Manukau Magpies.

They’d need to hammer the Magpies at Ti Rakau Park to have any chance of securing a spot in the Fox Memorial Premiership this season.

The Mangere East Hawks travel to Walker Park to play Pool A leaders Pt Chevalier.

The Papakura Sea Eagles can book their place in the 2023 Fox Memorial Premiership with a win over the Northcote Tigers at Prince Edward Park.

A loss and they will be hoping the Glenora Bears lose its match against Marist Saints in Pool C.

Meanwhile the Women’s Premiership gets underway this weekend as well.

The Otara Scorpions face the Manurewa Marlins, the Otahuhu Leopards tackle the Mt Albert Lions while the Howick Hornets meet newcomers City Rugby League with all games being played at Cornwall Park.
