Patumahoe welcomes back club centurion Gareth “Buck” Manning as an assistant coach of their McNamara Cup team in 2023.

The club confirmed their 2023 coaching line-up with Manning joining Brad Healy and Kaino Kaino at the helm of the 2022 runners-up.

“We are thrilled to announce Buck as assistant coach for the coming season,” co-club captain Paul Batters said. “He has gained a lot of experience over the years with various teams and will provide not only that experience but a massive amount of enthusiasm to boot.

Long-time U21 manager Ross Jolly will step up as Premier manager next year and will be assisted by Sue Brady.

Two-time Bob Chandler-winning coach Jamie Bain will return along with Nick Grayson to mentor the club’s Premier 2 side. Joe Redshaw and Craig Jones return in their current roles with the team as well.

The club’s U21 side will once again be coached by Greg Stanford and he will be assisted by Aaron Hill and Sam Furniss with co-club captain Grant Brady-Leatham serving as manager.

The U85kg side will be coached by the experienced John Michie, who will continue to mentor Logan Tukuri. Megan Healy will continue as manager and will be assisted by a newcomer in John Cochrane.

The combination of Leo Brady, Mike Williams and Liz Hargis-Bullen will be the coaching group of the Patumahoe Premier 3 side.

The club plans on placing more emphasis on growing their women’s game – their women’s team will be coached by Anthony Campbell and Cameron Wilson, with Vanessa Campbell as manager.

“We are excited for the coming season and happy to have quality people leading our teams,” Batters said. “We are grateful for their commitment to success as individual teams and the club’s overall performance and culture.”
