Manukau City have won the W.H Taylor Shield after successfully beating Southern Counties in their final round match.

The visitors bowled Southern Counties out cheaply with Northern Districts representative Scott Johnston and Counties Manukau opening bowler James Naylor each picking up three wickets.

Manukau City then chased down the low total for the loss of only two wickets with Pratiak Lawande scoring 53 not out.

The win ensured Manukau City edged out Weymouth and Pukekohe Metro for the W.H Taylor Shield.

JayDee Singh scored a century for the second successive week to power Weymouth to a convincing 139-run win over Papakura at Bruce Pulman Park.

Singh scored 105 off 87 balls, including 15 fours and three sixes, to help his side post 247-7 declared.

He had support from Manpreet Singh, who collected a patient but vital 71 off 124 deliveries in a 130-run second wicket stand.

Navpreet Singh scored 37 not out batting at number four.

Rajan Bhatia claimed 5-36 for Papakura to continue his fine season.

The Papakura chase did not start well, losing a pair of wickets for only 13 runs and they were eventually bowled out for 108.

Taranveer Singh was the only player to show any real resistance, scoring 55 off 72.

Rohit Kumar was the pick of the Weymouth bowlers, grabbing 4-18.

Pukekohe Metro won the toss and sent Karaka in to bat at Karaka Sports Complex and got the desired result, bowling the home side out for a disappointing 140.

Opening bowler Blair Lovett clamed 5-29 in a quality showing.

An 89-run opening partnership between Aue Parima (43 off 45) and Hamish Farrell (51 of 56) powered Pukekohe Metro to the total.

They got a few wobbles once the two openers were out and ended up reaching the target seven down.

Stu Kett, not for the first time this summer, was the chief destroyed – taking an impressive 6-46 in a losing cause.
