Local tracks will host four of the six rounds that will comprise the 2020-21 Speed Works Events Championship.

Pukekohe Park Raceway and Hampton Downs will each host a pair of events while Taupo Motorsport Park and Manfeild will host the other events in an all-North Island championship this summer.

The series begins on October 31-November 1 at Hampton Downs before shifting over to Pukekohe Park on December 5-6.

Hampton Downs kicks off 2021 with a round over January 23-24 while Manfeild, home of the New Zealand Grand Prix, will host on February 13-14.

Competitors head back north to Pukekohe on March 6-7 before a finale at Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park in Taupo on March 27-28.

“We are really disappointed that we haven’t been able to take the championship series to the South Island for the 20/21 season,” said Elton Goonan, Acting CEO of MotorSport New Zealand.

“With the budgets now extremely tight, we have seen a real reduction in club, category and competitor spending in the race sector at this early stage of the economic recovery. Whilst, we do expect this to improve we need to be mindful of the long-term outcomes.”

The Toyota Racing Series – New Zealand’s leading domestic motorsport category – is yet to announce their schedule.
