Franklin United opened the Women’s NRF Championship in dominant fashion as they beat Birkenhead United 4-1 at Drury Sports Complex.

Chloe Marthe scored a double while Georgia Irvine and Nikita Lieshout added second half goals to secure victory.

Onehunga Sports made a promising start to the championship as they claimed a 4-0 win over Metro FC while Manukau United thumped Te Atatu 5-2 in a high scoring game.

It wasn’t such good news for Beachlands Maraetai however as they fell to Fencibles United 3-0.

Manukau United fell to their second straight loss in the Northern League as they lost 2-0 to North Shore United.

They fall to ninth on the table as a result.

Onehunga Mangere United made it back-to-back wins in LOTTO Division 1 action as they accounted for Metro FC 2-1 on Saturday.

Scott Lewis scored the winner in the 85th minute.

Meanwhile Manurewa AFC secured their first win of the season as they claimed a 2-1 win over Waitemata FC at McLeod Park.

Arnold Kochasira and Jordan O’Neill scored for Manurewa.

Papakura City picked up their first win of the NRF Championship thanks to a commanding 5-2 win over Ranui Swanson at McLennan Park.

Papatoetoe AFC made it two from two as they triumphed over Uni-Mount Bohemian 3-2 but South Auckland Rangers crashed back to earth with a 4-1 loss to Central United.
