The start of the upcoming cricket season will see some disruption to playing venues due to a particularly bad winter season weather-wise.

Counties Manukau Cricket has been advised that some grounds are not going to be ready for play when the season begins next weekend.

Confirmation was sent to the clubs late last week.

“CMCA would like to take this opportunity to inform you that on the advice from Auckland Council and City Care a large number of our grounds are not fit for play yet and they have allocated grounds for the T20 competition that they have deemed fit for play,” an email sent to clubs said.

“Not the ideal start for the season but something that is beyond our control.”

The Inder Lynch T20 competition is set to take place over two weekends, starting on October 7.

Round one and two will take place at Bruce Pulman Park while the remaining rounds will be held at Clevedon Showgrounds and Opaheke Reserve.

The competition kicks off with Pukekohe Metro facing Southern Districts, the new-look Papakura taking on Manukau City while Weymouth and Karaka square-off with all games starting at 10.30am.

In the afternoon fixtures (round two), Manukau City and Pukekohe Metro meet in what looms as a big game, Southern Districts and Weymouth battle it out while Karaka and Papakura face off.
