Counties Tennis Association’s representative team has lost to Bay of Plenty 15-9 at Counties Tennis Centre on Sunday.

The tie was much closer than the final score looked with Counties losing a number of super tie-breaks.

The girls 12U/14U grade enjoyed the most success, winning all but five of their six matches.

Jasmine Bonello (6-3 4-6 11-9), Charlee Lundon (6-1 6-2) and Joshika Somarouthu (6-0 6-0) all won their singles matches while Bonello and Lundon teamed up to win their doubles match 6-0 4-6 10-6 with Somarouthu and Ashley Shepherd winning their doubles contest 6-1 6-3.

Vaughan Cameron (6-0 6-4) and Liam Nai (6-2 6-3) won their respective singles matches in the 14U boys’ grade before pairing up to win their doubles match 6-2 6-3 as well.

Toby Johnson won his singles tie in the 10U boys’ grade 4-5 (3), 4-2 10-7.
