The EnviroNZ Franklin Bulls had their National Basketball League debut overshadowed by the Taranaki Mountainairs 107-95 at Trusts Stadium in Auckland on Wednesday night.

The debutants scored the first 10 points of the contest and raced out to a 24-9 lead midway through the first quarter before the Airs worked their way back into the contest.

Isaac Davidson had a superb night for the Bulls scoring 27 points while shooting six from nine from deep to lead the offense. He also picked up eight steals on the night.

Nikau McCullough collected 17pts while Everard Bartlett chipped in 13pts and five assists.

The Bulls will look for their first NBL win when they face the Canterbury Rams on Thursday night at the same venue.
