The South Auckland clubs ran into each other in the Women’s NRF Championship on Sunday with Onehunga Sports getting a win and Franklin United and Manukau United sharing the spoils.

Franklin United and Manukau United drew 1-1 at Drury Sports Complex. Georgia Irvine put Franklin United ahead in the 28th minute before Ashley Porter equalised in the 82nd minute.

Onehunga Sports thumped Beachlands Maraetai 7-0 on the back of doubles from Simone Boonekamp and Jayna Bennett. Kate Inwood, Tessa Blakeborough and Kirstyn Oldfield also got themselves on the score sheet.

Onehunga Mangere United claimed another win in LOTTO Division 1 football play on Saturday to move into third on the competition table.

They scored a 2-1 win over Mt Albert Ponsonby United – their second successive win.

Darcy Knight opened the scoring in the 64th minute before Osman Rastagar put the game to bed in the 76th minute.

The visiting side scored a late consolation goal.

Fellow South Auckland outfit Manurewa AFC had their winning streak snapped by West Coast Rangers, losing 1-0.

It wasn’t such good news for local teams in other grades however – Manukau United lost 1-0 to Western Springs AFC in the Northern League on Saturday.

Both LOTTO Division 2 sides lost their respective matches as well. Franklin United scored the opening goal of their match against Hibiscus Coast before going down 3-2.

Christopher Abbott scored a double for the visitors.

Beachlands Maraetai were hammered 7-1 by Bucklands Beach.
